I’ve complied with the 221G Request for Additional Documents and sent my paperwork to the U.S. Embassy. When will my K1 Visa be approved?

No one knows the answer to that question.

It all depends on the following:

  • The completeness of your paperwork (This still depends on the Consular Officer’s discretion.)
  • The amount of cases they have at your local U.S. Embassy
  • The decision by the Consular Officer reviewing your case
  • Any unforeseen circumstances like the weather, system failures, etc.

What’s the best thing to do?

  • Sit tight.
  • Wait patiently for updates. Monitor your status on CEAC.
  • Follow-up your case by calling the local U.S. Embassy
  • Quit whining / complaining. Do you honestly think it will magically make your visa appear at your doorstep?

  1. Anna says:

What happens to the validity (less than 90 days from the issuance) of the SLEC medical exam/records if my visa application is still on Administrative Processing?

    1. Mrs. Presson says:

The 90-day “validity” is a requirement ONLY FOR the interview. Your Medical Records are valid for a year and you will need these doc/results for your AOS once you’re married and stateside. Please read the blog articles already provided about AOS.
